Formentera
Discover the last paradise in the Balearic Islands.

Formentera is the ultimate Mediterranean paradise and a lot more besides, where you can enjoy blissful summer holidays in a peaceful and tranquil atmosphere and with an astonishingly unspoilt environment.

Formentera also offers visitors a number of extras for a great holiday at any time of year. The general climate (average temperatures of 16º from November to April) means you can bathe all year round and in Spring and Autumn the island is at its most stunning with its incredible light and magnificent colours.

The landscape displays its harmonious tones and shades more clearly than when under the dazzling light of Formentera's summer sunshine. A sunset or a view of sky and sea become a unique spectacle which alone makes the island worth a visit.-

Villages:

La Savina:

The port of Savina is the first village you will come across as it is the first place tourists to the island see and therefore it is makes a big impact. If there is any thing that typifies Savina it is the constant comings and goings of seagoing vessels. There are boats ferrying tourists and locals to and fro, large and small fishing craft and in summer an enormous number of sail boats and yachts skippered by nautical holidaymakers as they navigate the Mediterranean waters.

San Francisco Javier:

Three kilometres away lies San Francesc Xavier, which is the main town and considered the island's capital, as it boasts a Town Hall in its main square. It is faced by a church which in the 18th century served as a fortress against the barbarians and which in time became a place of refuge for the town's religious faithful.
The main Square is where all the town's fiestas and important events are held, and where residents and tourists alike gather to enjoy the festive, peaceful and above all welcoming atmosphere.
San Francisco attracts the majority of visitors due to its numerous shops and bars and in particular its "paseo" or promenade where a host of hippy stalls sell goods typical to the island all of which makes a visit to this island capital an essential stop in your itinerary.

San Fernando:

Following the same road which leads from the port and leaving Sant Francesc, the next stop is the village of Sant Ferran, which you pass through to reach La Mola or Es Pujols, and where there are a number of bars and restaurants where you can eat or just sit and have a drink and watch the world go by.
Sant Ferran is home to one of the island's most legendary historic establishments: La Fonda Pepe, which opened in the nineteen sixties and since then has welcomed visitors seeking an authentic tranquil hippy atmosphere, as despite the passage of time, it still remains one of the few places which has resisted change.

Es Pujols:

The last village on the route and probably the one most geared to tourism is Es Pujols. You can reach it either from the port of through Sant Ferran. The minute you enter the village it is clear that this is different from the other villages, especially at night. The enormous variety of shops, restaurants, bars, pubs and discotheques have made this place a tourist paradise. Day or night there is a constant flow of people, during the day you can enjoy the beaches and especially the shops. At night there is a truly festive air, particularly in the bars and along the sea front where the hippy market attracts the crowds in a festive atmosphere mingled with the fresh sea air.

La Mola:

Still on the main road, the next stop after San Ferran is La Mola, the furthest village at the highest point of the island and about 15 km from Sant Ferran. It is also one of the most peaceful villages, as since it is further away not so many tourists visit, and there are few shops and restaurants. The main attraction is the hippy market which is held twice a week and which attracts large crowds. Another village attraction is its lighthouse set up on the cliffs where you can enjoy the magnificent sunsets and soak up the peaceful atmosphere.
